What I’ve Been Reading

God Is Not Great

After reading and loving numerous Dawkins books, I was recommended this title written by Christopher Hitchens. I enjoyed it very much, but it is important to note that while Hitchens and Dawkins are in agreement on most all matters that are important to the argument against religion, their writing styles and angles of attack are very different in my eyes. I believe that to be due to their very different backgrounds and areas of expertise.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Dawkins’s The God Delusion, but that isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy it immensely. It’s really a must-read book for everyone in any stage of atheism. Someone with a brand new seed of doubt will enjoy it just as much as a seasoned atheist. It makes good, solid points based on facts and evidence as well as first hand experiences that add flavor to the discussion.

Also of note, Hitchens reads the unabridged audio version of this book. His dulcet tones and charming British accent make the experience even better. I would suggest at least listening to the narration sample on Audible or iTunes to see if it blows your skirt up.
