What I’ve Been Reading

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

This isn’t the first Steve Jobs biography I’ve read. In fact, the first two thirds of the book simply rehash stories that I’ve known for years. Nobody who is familiar with Jobs and Apple will be surprised by anything in the book. That said, I loved the last third.

Specifically, I am moved about the story and personal feelings about Steve’s first cancer surgery and his liver transplant. That is a subject very near and dear to my heart, so it resonated very strongly with me.

Steve Jobs was a flawed human. We know. As far as I know, nobody has ever publically claimed him to be particularly nice or congenial since he became a public figure. I don’t care. Steve Jobs was not my friend, coworker, or kin. Instead, Steve Jobs was a complicated man who strived to make great things. I appreciate the great things that he made. That rings true in this book. You should probably read it.
