True Art
7th Son is such a beautiful piece of art.
I remember the day that I started listening to the 7th Son trilogy like it was yesterday. It is crystal clear to me. It is what I imagine falling in love with someone is like. It was the beginning of a wonderful journey that I appreciate like nothing else.
I hear people talk about seeing Star Wars in 1977 as an 11 year old. The pure joy in their voice as they remember the day that essentially changed the way they look at media. That is how I feel about 7th Son.
I had no preconceived notions about what the book would be like. The only thing I had to go on was a really interesting interview that J.C. Hutchins did with Adam Christianson on the MacCast. I downloaded the first book, and I started listening while doing my shopping at a Super Wal-Mart. As I was picking up some produce, I heard John talk about his girlfriend. When I was picking up Fight Club on DVD, I learned about Michael’s military career. When I was checking out, I heard Father Thomas give someone their last rights. I remember all of this because my life, the way I view media, changed that day.
As book three comes to a close, there is a sadness. However, I am so very pleased with how everything turned out. I enjoyed every single bit of this trilogy. Star Wars is Star Wars, and I love it, but I grew up with it. 7th Son is my Star Wars experience. It opened my eyes, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Thank you, Mr. Hutchins.
