Save the Chronicles, Save the World
I don’t know if you guys know this, but I am a huge Terminator fan.
In 2008, FOX began running a show called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. They aired nine episodes in the first season, and then ended it early due to the writers guild getting their collective panties in a bunch. Later that year, the show came back for a second season with a thirteen episode order. The show’s traditional ratings were not great, but the DVR numbers and the online sales were compelling enough to convince FOX to pick up the show for nine more episodes to round out a twenty-two episode season. They moved the show from Monday to Friday, and then paired it with Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. The ratings continued to be less than stellar, but they weren’t terrible. The show was on the bubble, and it came down to the last minute. Instead of renewing Sarah Connor for a third season, FOX opted to pick up Dollhouse instead. I think we all know how that turned out.
Since the end of the second season, fans have been rallying to help save The Sarah Connor Chronicles. We have raised thousands of dollars, run billboards, run theater ads, stickered entire cities, and dominated the internet with our agenda. What we have done is astounding. The powers that be are hearing our noise. Our only option is continuing to crank up the volume.
Do me a personal favor. Go to SaveTheSCC.com to see how you can help save the show. Go buy DVDs and Blu-Rays of the first and second season. Spread the word. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.
