This is why I don’t allow myself to watch just any sci-fi. After many years of ignoring the “Brown Coat” wankers, I finally watched Serenity. I had no idea that it was a Space Cowboy Vs. Zombie Pirate epic. At the very least, an interesting blend of genres. I ponied up the extra $5 to buy the two disc set, so now I’m going to watch all of the extra content.

I liked the movie, but the dialogue was cringe-inducing. I get it, Joss. You’re being campy and dramatic in the same film. *Eye roll* I honestly don’t mind light hearted moments, but I’d much prefer believable dialogue. Believe you me, I understand that it was a stylistic choice. All I’m saying is that he made the WRONG choice.

Outside of the dialogue issues, I liked most of the characters, and I enjoyed the pacing. There were a couple interesting shots in there to boot. The robbery scene near the beginning had a pretty awesome camera “tumble” to lead us to a guy on the floor. Very nice.

I’ll probably end up buying the season of Firefly.
